Vowel modifiers

All the Assamese vowels except অ have corresponding modifiers or a 'kar'. And unlike in English, these vowels switch to a 'kar' shape when attached to a consonant. Though while spelling out, the consonant goes before the vowel, depending on the 'kar', it can be before or after or under or even around the consonant letter

Some of the consonants also change their shape when we put them with a vowel modifier. Look at the following:

ৰ + ু = ৰু ৰ + ূ = ৰূ

হ + ু = হু হ + ূ = হু

গ + ু = গু
