All the Assamese vowels except অ have corresponding modifiers or a 'kar'. And unlike in English, these vowels switch to a 'kar' shape when attached to a consonant. Though while spelling out, the consonant goes before the vowel, depending on the 'kar', it can be before or after or under or even around the consonant letter
